Nursing Home Diaries: UTIs, Gall Bladders, and Kitchen Troubles

My goodness! It has been a while since I wrote a post about my stay. My eye strain prevents me from blogging as much as I want to. It is a bit easier because I changed the screen resolution on laptop. I know you are all thinking why haven't I made an appointment with an eye doctor yet? More things have happened.

Last Thursday, I was not feeling well at all. I had been nauseous for some time and suspected the food here was the cause. The company that owns the facility sends them a lot of processed meats to feed the residents and my body had enough. By the time last Thursday rolled around my stomach was giving me pain and I felt congested and tight in my chest. As soon as you mention anything concerning your chest they call 911.

I was off the ER. They took a urine test, blood, and gave me an abdominal ultrasound. The urine test showed I had a UTI and the ultrasound showed that my gall bladder was inflamed indicating I had a gall bladder infection plus they found gall stones.

I've been taking an antibiotic for a week, Pepcid because the gall bladder is giving me indigestion, and I forget the other pill for nausea. In the meantime, I have to eat a rather bland diet. Well bland from my perspective. It must be low fat and low protein until my gall bladder issues are resolved.

There is where the kitchen troubles come in. I've been fighting with the kitchen to bring me food that I can eat. They keep bringing me food that will cause me pain. I was at the point where I thought they were trying to kill me. Finally, today, they give me the weekly menu so I can let them what from it I can eat and what needs to be altered. So tonight, I couldn't eat the full meal they prepared but I could eat the broccoli and plain mashed potatoes.

Here's hoping they pay attention to what I told them for the next few days. Y'all pray for me!
