Thanksgiving is tomorrow. If you are having dinner at a friend's or relatives you may be expected to bring a little something. This last minute dessert recipe from Kraft is just the thing to whip up fast and save your social graces.

No, I am not trying to become a body builder. I do need to eat healthier and build muscle to help my mobility out. So, when I received the opportunity to review this cookbook I accepted. The recipes in this book are surprising. I wasn't expecting to see boiled chicken breast with bland vegetables. However, I was not expecting to see recipes that resembled some of the ones I grew up eating, either.

I've heard of Yacon syrup being a weight loss aid and a sugar substitute. The latter was the main reason I was interested in trying the syrup. My mother is a diabetic. If Yacon syrup could be an adequate substitute for refined sugar, then that would be great. So, I jumped at the chance to receive a free bottle of and review Peak Fusion Organic Raw Yacon Syrup.

I've been a customer of Family Christian for well over 10 years now. I started going to Family Christian when I took charge of my faith. I had to stop relying on Sunday service to teach me the Word of God. I needed to seek God out for myself. Family Christian played a huge part in that.

I am taking a break from the Foodie Friday segment as I have a lot of projects going for this blog, Fashion's Sense, YouTube, and SheKnows. One of the projects for this blog is to review this delightful cookbook from Pamela Ellgen called Healthy Slow Cooker Cookbook for Two. This book is all about preparing healthier meals using your slow cooker. This review will discuss the layout of the cookbook, the usefulness of the extras, and of course the comprehension of the recipes. I will also list the dishes that my household will plan on experimenting with.

This Foodie Friday for National Blueberry Month features blueberry recipes that are on the savory side. Surprised? Me too. Who knew the blueberry had a savory side? These recipes are definitely on the "To Try" list. Don't wait for me to give them go. Check them out and experiment on your own!

I was excited when I checked my email yesterday and found a new press release from Netflix. I opened the email and the headline read: "Netflix to Beam New CBS "Star Trek" Television Series in 188 Countries Around the World". Sounds exciting right? If you are a Netflix subscriber and a fan of the Star Trek franchise, this sounds like awesome news. Except it's not.

This third Foodie Friday recipe for National Blueberry Month is the perfect addition to a brunch spread. It has the brunch staple: the croissant. Of course there are blueberries. Since this is a Kraft recipe I received via BlogsRelease, it also contains cream cheese.
Friday, July 8, 2016
This dessert from Kraft via BlogsRelease, has all of my favorite things in it. It has vanilla wafers, whipped topping, cream cheese, and blueberries. For my second Foodie Friday post of National Blueberry month these no-bake treats are sure to be a hit. Experience the goodness of a blueberry cheesecake without the hassle of baking one.

July is National Blueberry Month so you know what this means? Yes! Delicious blueberry recipes from BlogsRelease. Today, I have a Kraft recipe featuring the oh-so-delicious blueberry: Crumble Topped Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake.
This is Between Sunshine and Rain's first book review. Certainly, it won't be the last. I am glad that the first review is for a book that came out this year titled, Unashamed: Healing Our Brokenness and Finding Freedom from Shame by Heather Davis Nelson. I received a free copy of this book from FlyBy Promotions and I am glad I was selected. This book is a revelation in the sense that it helps you reveal the shame you feel in your life, even if you never realized it existed.

This is the last Foodie Friday for June and also the last National Dairy Month-inspired recipe this year. Of course this does not mean I will stop posting recipes that include dairy for the remainder of the year. It just means that dairy recipes won't be the spotlight anymore. For this last entry for National Dairy Month I found a recipe inspired from my mother's favorite sundae, the Banana Split. This is a Kraft recipe I am reblogging from BlogsRelease. It is a dairy wonderland. This recipe contains butter, cream cheese, milk, and whipped topping.

The food homage to the Italian flag, the Caprese Salad, is perhaps one of the easiest salads you will ever make. It is simple and mild in flavor. For summer why not kick that flavor up a notch by adding a bit of robust flavor via the grill? This recipe from Whole Foods via BlogsRelease, is the perfect way to enjoy Caprese Salad in a new way for National Dairy Month.

We are in the last days of spring here. So having one last go at a spring dish, such as pasta primavera, is a great way to finish off the season. Why not change things up and add a little something extra to the mix? Well, Kraft did just that with this recipe called Chicken Pasta Primavera Made Over. Remember this is National Dairy Month so of course there is dairy in this recipe.
Friday, June 3, 2016
Today is National Doughnut Day. As I posted yesterday, June is also National Dairy Month. So for this Foodie Friday, I wanted to find you guys a sweet recipe that highlighted both dairy and doughnuts. I think this Doughnut Trifle recipe from Kraft is perfect for today.
Thursday, June 2, 2016
June is National Dairy Month. As such, each Friday in June I will feature a recipe that is full of dairy goodness. Tomorrow's recipe will celebrate two national food events. Now that's all I'm telling you about tomorrow's post. Right now, let me give you some details about National Dairy Month.

I love fries. French fries, curly fries, boardwalk fries, pizza fries, mega fries, and sweet potato fries. Now I have a new set of fries on my foodie radar: Banana Fries. Yes, this is just as you'd expect, French fried slices of bananas.
Friday, May 20, 2016
This recipe I am about to share with you this Friday comes from Whole Foods. It is easy to prepare. You can use any toppings you like. I am doing a take on the Whole Foods recipe using toppings found in Friendly's Banana Split Ice Cream.

This week, I have a dessert recipe from Crissy Page of Dear Crissy that I procured from BlogsRelease. This recipe intrigues me because I am not particularly fond of banana pudding. I find it to be too rich, even though it does taste good. This recipe has something that adds a refreshing, lighter component to cut through the richness. Plus, the smaller size doesn't hurt either.

Last year for the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge I blogged about different recipes. One of those recipes featured bananas. So I am not a stranger to using bananas as a savory item in a meal. Yes Margaret, bananas are not just for dessert.

Yesterday, I completed the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge with the final letter "Z". It has been a fun and hectic ride. I was happy to share some of my favorite television shows and episodes with you.

"Zal Bin Hasaan" is the seventh episode from the third season of NBC's The Blacklist starring James Spader. The Blacklist is a primetime thriller that centers around a former agent turned Most Wanted, Raymond "Red" Reddington (Spader). Reddington offers his assistance to the FBI to apprehend criminals on his list, The Blacklist. The only catch is, he gets free reign to work and he deals personally with Agent Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone).

"You're Welcome" was the 100th episode of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff, Angel. Season five was the final season of the series. It was the season where a few outstanding issues received some closure.
Thursday, April 28, 2016
I remember as a teen watching X-Men on Fox every Saturday as part of their Fox Kids line up. The cartoon was a true series for the first couple of seasons. Each episode was part of a larger continuing story that aired in order. Unfortunately, Fox messed that up when they began airing the episodes out of order -- a practice the network used resulting in the cancellation of Firefly.

"Woman in Black" is the season one finale for NBC's Grimm. Grimm is kind of in the same realm of ABC's Once Upon A Time with the use of fairy tale fantasy mixed with the modern world. Where Grimm is concerned it is just the monsters from old folklore called Wesen that are in our world. Detective Nick Burkhardt is the Grimm who is supposed to kill them. However, Nick learns that not all Wesen deserve the fate of death.

Big Love is hour-log drama that ran on HBO from March 2006 until March 2011. The delves into the life of a polygamous marriage living in society. Of course polygamy is not legal so the family has to hide the true nature of their relationship from most of the world. The drama stars Bill Paxton (Bill), Jeanne Tripplehorn (Barbara), Chloe Sevigny (Nicki), and Ginnifer Goodwin (Margene) as the main polygamous unit of the series.

"Into every generation a slayer is born: one girl in all the world, a chosen one. She alone will wield the strength and skill to fight the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness; to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their number. She is the Slayer."
Fans of the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, know the above quote very well. It is the opening narration of the former The WB, and later UPN, show. The series is truer to the intentions Joss Whedon had with his script for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. Whedon intended to show networks this with the 25-minute non-broadcast pilot he created to pitch the series to networks. This teaser was never aired on television. It is unofficially called the "Unaired Pilot".

Even you do not watch HBO's Game of Thrones you've probably heard or seen mention of it. Especially this past week since season six premiers Sunday, April 24th. A lot of people have probably been binge-watching the last five seasons of Game of Thrones in anticipation of the season six premier. It is because of this I felt it was fitting to include the show in the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge this time around.

Grey's Anatomy has been featured during this challenge earlier for "How to Save a Life". This time I am going back to season seven for the episode dubbed "Grey's Anatomy: The Music Event". The real title of the episode is "Song Beneath the Song". It was a musical episode that focuses primarily on Calliope "Callie" Torres (Sara Ramirez) as she fights for her life and that of her unborn child following a car accident.
Thursday, April 21, 2016
This is Sons of Anarchy's second appearance during the Blogging from A to Z April 2016 Challenge. I can't promise that is will be the last one. If you didn't know already it is one of my favorite shows. Sons of Anarchy season seven is called The Final Ride because it is the final season of the series. Episode 11, "Red Rose" centers around the settling of internal business.

The King of Queens, is still one of my favorite comedies. It is one of the shows I miss watching since cutting the cord. Yes, it is not available to legally stream anywhere. When I was in the hospital a couple of years ago I was reacquainted with the show and remembered why I love it so much.

Chosen (CH:OS:EN), is an action, crime thriller series on streaming network Crackle. The plot of the series is pretty basis, even if insane. A secret society called The Watchers, initiates "games" for ordinary citizens to play for The Watcher's amusement (it seems). In the game a box is sent to someone with a gun and a picture of another person(s), the target(s). The recipient of the box is given a deadline of 72 hours to execute the person(s) in the picture. Failure to do so, will result in dire consequences for the recipient and those he or she loves.

ABC's Scandal is one of my guilty pleasures. While I am a cord-cutter and cannot partake of TGIT social media activities, I am all about the TGIT fall lineup on Friday morning. So I am glad to be able to write a little post about Scandal season two, episode 10, "One for the Dog".
Saturday, April 16, 2016
"NS" is the finale episode of season three for Sons of Anarchy (SOA). The thing I loved about SOA was that it was unapologetic. It was gritty. Had no chill where political correctness was concerned. SOA had no heroes; I mean not one member of Samcro is without major faults. For some reason, you still found yourself rooting for Samcro.

If you ask people what is the best crime/police drama to hit television and the majority might answer either The Wire or Law and Order. However, this is only because many people do not know about Homicide: Life on the Street. This show had the best elements of every crime/police drama with a solid cast. It was often listed by TV Guide as "The Best Show You're Not Watching". This was and still is true.

One of televisions most adored sitcoms has to be I Love Lucy starring the iconic Lucille Ball. As many already know, Lucy had a penchant for getting into more than her fair share of hilarious situations. What is most astounding, is that the comedy from that era still translates into today's culture. My favorite episode from the show is "Lucy Does a TV Commercial."
Wednesday, April 13, 2016
Private Practice was a spin-off of Grey's Anatomy starring Kate Walsh as Addison Montgomery. The show ran for six seasons on ABC. Unfortunately, I was one of the many who slept on this show while it was on the air. Thanks to Hulu and Netflix, I was able to discover the greatness of this show.

ABC's Black-ish is filling the gap for family-friendly sitcoms for an African-American audience. ABC has been the only network I can think of that has tried in recent decades, to have programming showing the family life of different ethnicities. Black-ish is showing the world how many of the middle-class African-American families function.
I recently had the opportunity to test out three products from the L'Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Curls product line for free. I used it alone and in conjunction with other products to see how well Extraordinary Oil works in my curly life. There are some good and bad aspects about these products I will tell you about now.
Monday, April 11, 2016
ABC's Revenge is still one of my favorite dramas to come from that network. It was a primetime soap opera but without the overly “soap” feel that shows like Desperate Housewives had. The gist of the whole series centers around the framing of a man named David Clarke by Conrad and Victoria Grayson and the quest of Clarke's daughter, Amanda (aka Emily Thorne) to get revenge against the Graysons.
Saturday, April 9, 2016
I have to admit; it took me a few years to get into Grey's Anatomy. Once I did, it quickly became one of my favorite television shows. Season 11 of Grey's saw the end of one of the shows beloved characters, Derek Shepherd, aka McDreamy, played by Patrick Dempsey.

I do have to agree that there is a lack of diversity in leading roles on television. There are strong minority lead characters in TV series. Unfortunately, some of the strongest were and currently are on premium cable channels. With cord cutters increasing in size, it is less likely these shows will be seen. I encourage you to take a chance on one show, House of Lies, starting with its pilot episode, "God of Dangerous Financial Instruments."
Thursday, April 7, 2016
The 1990s had some very great TV shows. I was able to turn on the TV and see characters that looked like me and my family on network television. I am not talking about BET, which is a cable channel, but networks like ABC and FOX gave me weekly entertainment. One of these TV shows I watched during the 90s was Fox's Martin starring comedian Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell-Martin.

Glee is one of my favorite shows. I couldn't wait to get my weekly dose of this musical sitcom. While not every episode has great performances in it, there are a few that stick with me. One is the "Extraordinary Merry Christmas" episode from season three.

How I Met Your Mother is a sitcom that aired on CBS for nine seasons from 2005 - 2014. The show is about Ted Mosby telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. It seems ridiculous that this would take nine seasons. However, How I Met Your Mother was a funny show that took stops along the scenic route to get to what the show's title promises. One of my favorite stops along the way to meeting Ted's future wife happened in season 5, episode 2, "Double Date". There are two main storylines that correlate with the title. I will give some details about each of them.
Monday, April 4, 2016
"Curtain Call" is the finale of American Horror Story (AHS) season four, also called American Horror Story Freak Show. AHS Freak Show was my least favorite season of the series (this doesn't mean I didn't like it though; it was just weaker than the others). Ironically, "Curtain Call" was my favorite finale from the series.
Saturday, April 2, 2016
You might notice right away that I did not include the season in the title. This is because ABC's My So-Called Life only lasted one season. Don't let its single season status fool you. My So-Called Life was and still is a great show. It is one of the many shows that ended way too soon. I digress. Today's post focuses on the episode titled "Betrayal" and how the episode, along with the series, deals with timeless issues affecting teens.
Friday, April 1, 2016
It's day one of Between Sunshine and Rain's participation in the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. Today's post is about the season four finale episode of The Walking Dead simply titles, "A". I picked this episode because it featured a lot of good television moments for me three of which I will highlight in this post: Character Shift, Cliffhanger, and an Unforgettable Quote.

I am so lucky to be able to receive complimentary samples of new Valentia Skin Care products as they come out to review on my blogs. This is the second serum I am writing a review for from the company, Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum. I'll just tell you right now that I love it like I love the Royal Rose Hydrating Serum I wrote a review for last week on my other blog, Fashion’s Sense.

April is almost here! I can't wait to get started on the A to Z April Challenge this year. As you might be able to guess from my reveal title, the theme centers around television shows.
